【5th ed.】 hirali Gauze Stole

Takeno Senko Inc.

Wear Color, Enjoy the Season

From hirali, a brand by Takeno Senko, comes a new creation — the Gauze Stole, crafted using their original double-sided dyeing technique.
This process combines masterful craftsmanship with roller printing — a technique that dyes patterns by rolling fabric with engraved rollers — to color the front and back of the delicate, semi-transparent gauze in different hues without any color bleeding through. It is a special dyeing method unique to Takeno Senko in all of Japan. The process demands about five times the usual effort, including meticulous adjustments of dye formulas according to the ambient temperature, all guided by the artisans’ refined sensibility.

Soft, light, and pleasant against the skin, the stole is as practical as it is beautiful.
Its design features modern interpretations of traditional Japanese patterns and color combinations inspired by Kasane no Irome—the Heian-period color culture based on seasonal words (kigo). When wrapped around the neck, the overlapping colors from both sides create depth and dimension, offering a variety of looks depending on how it’s tied.

Measuring 34 x 180 cm, it’s a versatile piece for all seasons: perfect in summer for absorbing sweat, shielding from the sun, or protecting against air conditioning, and in winter for a touch of warmth.
Compact and easy to carry, it’s a fashion item for all genders and ages — a true embodiment of Sakai’s dyeing culture and craftsmanship.
Enjoy how the fabric softens and evolves with every use.
