Baieido, an incense manufacturer in Sakai City with over 300 years of history, has collaborated with fashion brand KEITA MARUYAMA to bring new beauty to its time-honored fragrances.
The package design, created by Keita Maruyama, expresses Japan’s four seasons and traditional aesthetics through his distinctive sensibility—reimagining the beloved Japanese concept of Wa in a contemporary visual style.
The oriental and exotic patterns evoke Southeast Asia and the East—the birthplace of incense—achieving a refined texture that also shines as an interior piece.
This series offers a fresh perspective on Japanese incense, once associated mainly with Buddhist rituals. It naturally blends into the daily lives of younger generations and those interested in fashion and art, adding a sophisticated accent to any space.
The lineup features three of Baieido’s long-selling classics: Koubunboku, Kai un koh, and Sandalwood Kokonoekoh. Each boasts more than a century of history and is characterized by deep fragrances made from carefully selected natural ingredients.

Two formats are available: the traditional short stick type and a modern mini stick type packaged in a paper cylinder.

With a history of over 360 years, Baieido is one of the notable long-standing brands in Sakai’s incense industry, originally starting as a medicine wholesale shop. Cherished by many incense-lovers since their inception, they have remained dedicated to the craft of incense-making until this day.
This item was created in collaboration with industrial designer Mr. Kiyoyuki Okuyama of ‘KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN’, and is crafted from Arita porcelain with a motif of a gentle ‘plum flower’ and a modern silver finish.
Arita porcelain, the first porcelain produced in Japan in the 17th century, is known for its exceptional durability and is highly regarded as both a practical daily item and fine art.
With continued use, the modern incense holder finished in silver glaze will gain richness in both depth and character.
The ‘Premium Incense Holder Fio’, was made to carry on the tradition of Japanese Scent Culture.
Just as its product name ‘Fio’ comes from the Italian word, ‘fiore’, meaning ‘flower’, the incense features a delightful floral scent enriched with natural lavender essential oil to add a touch of elegance to your daily life.
